Benefits of being registered
Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) are recognised as providers of quality assured and nationally recognised training and qualifications. Becoming an RTO can also provide access to ideas, information and resources across different groups in the national vocational education and training (VET) system. More information on the VET system is available at www.training.com.au.
Only RTOs:
- can issue qualifications and statements of attainment that are nationally recognised
- can use the VETAB and Nationally Recognised Training logos
- are listed on the National Training Information Service (NTIS) database
- can be approved to provide courses to overseas students studying in Australia and listed on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS)
- are eligible to tender for Australian, state or territory government funding for vocational education and training.
- can deliver accredited courses in response to specific demand
Nationally recognised training
Only RTOs can use the nationally recognised training logo on all qualifications and statements of attainment they issue.
The logo is a valuable marketing tool which signifies:
- the training courses are accredited under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF)
- the qualifications issued are recognised by all other RTOs
This means students can be confident that the skills and qualifications they attain are of a high quality and are recognised anywhere in Australia.
Australian, state and territory government funding
RTOs can apply for financial assistance from government to deliver training. The Australian government and state and territory governments offer various funding programs targeted at particular learning groups, industries, or regions of Australia.
Overseas students
Training providers wishing to enter the growing education export market must be registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
To be registered on CRICOS, a training provider must be an RTO.
