Using consultants
RTOs are not required to engage the services of a consultant to prepare applications. The decision to engage a consultant is a business decision and at the discretion of the RTO. RTOs that use the services of a consultant should ensure that these services are customised to their particular business. RTOs should note that evidence presented for a particular learning and assessment strategy must be reflected across all of Standard 1.
VETAB does not endorse particular consultants. However, if choosing a consultant an RTO should get evidence of their expertise and experience in VET and their links to the particular industry. NSW ITABs (industry training advisory bodies) can provide support in this area. Visit www.nswitabs.com for more details)
RTOs are encouraged to ensure that their Training Manager has a good understanding of the VET sector. The TAA04 qualification provides current essential knowledge and skills in this area.
Before preparing applications for VETAB, VETAB strongly recommends RTOs attend the compliance workshops to ensure that AQTF and training package and/or accredited course requirements are met. These requirements include ensuring that applications are complete and demonstrate compliance with the Training Package assessment guidelines and packaging rules. For workshop details visit RTO workshops.
The workshops provide important information about the AQTF and the application process which will help you correctly prepare your application and avoid delays.
