Employment as a VETAB auditor
If you wish to seek employment as an auditor with VETAB you must meet the auditor requirements outlined in the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) 2007 Audit Handbook. These requirements are set out below.
Auditor qualifiications:
It is mandatory that the nominated external auditors hold current certification with either the RABQSA (previously known as the Quality Society of Australasia) or the International Register of Certified Auditors (IRCA) at the minimum grade of Lead Auditor or equivalent.

Hold Units of Competency specified below from the National Business Services Training Package (BSB07):
BSBAUD402B Participate in a quality audit
BSBAUD501B Initiate a quality audit
BSBAUD503B Lead a quality audit
BSBAUD504B Report on a quality audit
External auditors who do not hold current certification as specified above with either of the above bodies must demonstrate they meet the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 19011:2003 with respect to audit team leader. This includes providing sufficient information to allow an assessment of personal attributes, knowledge and skills and meeting the minimum requirements specified in the standard for the parameters of education, total work experience, work experience in the quality management field, auditor training and auditor experience, including auditing across a range of organisations of different sizes and industry areas.

TAADES401B Use Training Packages to meet client needs
TAAASS401C Plan & organise assessment
TAAASS402C Assess competence
TAAASS403B Develop assessment tools
TAACMQ503B Lead & conduct training &/or assessment evaluations
Additional qualifications
It is highly desirable that the nominated external auditors have:
- experience in auditing registered training organisations against the Australian Quality Training Framework Essential Standards for Registered Training Organisations
- a training qualification such as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or demonstrated equivalence
- a demonstrated knowledge of the national training framework
- an understanding of legislation impacting on vocational education and training
- demonstrated experience auditing across a range of training organisations of different sizes and industry areas.
