Clarification of the VETAB process for amendments to scope following training package revision

Following are a number of points intended to clarify the VETAB amendment to scope process and the purpose of holding specific training package workshops or information sessions.

  • The VETAB process supports the National Guideline for Risk Management for both registered training organisations (RTOs) needing to manage their scope and the registering body. The National Guideline for Risk Management can be accessed at: http://www.training.com.au/documents/AQTF_National Guideline for Risk Management.pdf
  • The workshops and information sessions provide opportunities for RTOs to implement their continuous improvement process in relation to maintaining current knowledge and systems to support the transition of training packages.
  • Each RTO is a separate legal entity.  The rollover of qualifications following attendance at a workshop or information session relates to the legal entity.
  • An email alert is sent to the email address of the CEO of each NSW RTO with the superseded training package qualifications on scope.
  • The details of the workshops or information sessions are posted on the VETAB web site under the Latest News tab.  Any qualifications that will not be rolled over and require an amendment to scope application are specified in this information.
  • Each RTO that wishes to initiate a rollover of qualifications needs to send one appropriate representative to the relevant workshop or information session.
  • When selecting a representative you need to consider that they will be responsible for providing input into your continuous improvement process and facilitate the professional development of other training staff.  The representative could be a trainer, training manager, training co-ordinator, general manager or CEO depending on the size of the RTO and its scope of operations.
  • For RTOs unable to send a representative to the workshop or information session, the alternative always remains to submit an amendment to scope application. This can be done at any time after the VETAB accreditation and publication on NTIS.
  • Other situations will be at the discretion of the Director following the National Guideline for Risk Management

Please note that for CRICOS providers there will be no rollover of a qualification onto the CRICOS register. CRICOS RTOs will need to make an application.
